Last night I had one of the most AMAZING experiences of my life — sitting in the FRONT ROW of an NHL game. In overtime, my 2nd favorite team the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1. More photos here.
A dream come true! I’ve always wanted to go to Vancouver. The Canucks have been my 2nd favorite NHL team (to Sabres) since I was 8 years old and I watched them in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Rangers.
After that, I would watch them in the late game on Saturday nights on Hockey Night in Canada on CBC, which we get in Buffalo where I grew up. And I got really into the team, the players - Bure, Linden, Naslund -, and have followed them since. It didn’t hurt when I learned they joined the league the same year as the Sabres (1970) and also have not yet won a Cup.
And today.. I arrived in Vancouver for the first time ever. The scenery, with the mountains, is breathtaking. And I went to a Canucks game this evening vs. Ottawa. It was magical. Here I am down at ice level before the game began. Vancouver went on to win 2-1 in overtime!

Mountains, trees and lake in Washington state.. driving up the Pacific Northwest coast from Seattle to Vancouver. This is my first time ever in these cities. I’ve always wanted to go to Vancouver - since I was a kid - and tonight I’ll live out another childhood dream: a Vancouver Canucks game. It’s against Ottawa so extra incentive to cheer as a Sabres fan too. It’ll also be my first ever NHL game in Canada.
