Jhonas Enroth is 23 years old, calm, cool and collected, and off to a 5-0 start with the Buffalo Sabres as Ryan Miller’s “backup.” This quote after last night’s 5-1 win over Ottawa embodies why I think he’s awesome:
“I have to stay humble,” Enroth said. “Hockey is a sport where it can turn around quick. I go out there and try to play every game like it would be my last game.” [SOURCE]
This guy.. 22-year-old Jhonas Enroth.. came up from Portland, relieving Ryan Miller who had made an NHL-high 31 straight starts, and led us to a 3-2 shootout win tonight AT Montreal. HUGE win for the Sabres and the shootout took 10 rounds no less. Enroth finished with 32 saves. We also came back down 2-0 in this one. And after a really slow start, we’re suddenly just 2 points back of a playoff spot with 2 games in hand on 8th place Carolina.
