1. Last night I had one of the most AMAZING experiences of my life — sitting in the FRONT ROW of an NHL game. In overtime, my 2nd favorite team the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1. More photos here.

  3. Right now I’m visiting the 11th floor of 233 N. Michigan in Chicago - once presidential campaign headquarters of Barack Obama (in 2008), now home of HuffPost Chicago and AOL, which leased the space in 2010.

  5. Thoughts on “Source Code”

Ever since I read Alexia Tsotsis’s review on “Source Code,” I knew this was a movie I wanted to see. It involved technology, science-fiction, going back in time essentially (“parallel universes”), and on top of it all, the film largely takes place in Chicago, where I lived for a year during graduate school.

  7. I was in Chicago at this time a year ago, so I can appreciate this… Today was the practice run for the 52nd annual Chicago Air and Water Show.
Created a slideshow on HuffPost of awesome pictures of the jets posted to Twitter today (one above from @JohnDigles): See all the photos here.

  9. Journalism School Remains Relevant Today, But Its Value Depends On You

There’s a lot of chatter lately (again) about whether or not J-School is relevant today. This talk crops up every now and then, and it was also popular when I decided to go to grad school for journalism just two years ago after studying journalism as an undergrad. (See my post at the time: “Uncertain Future.”)

  11. The Hawks took Game 1 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals 6-5. It was a wild affair between Philadelphia and Chicago, which is so great for the game of hockey - essentially a 3-hour commercial on NBC showcasing the best of this sport for the national audience.

Besides Patrick Kane being from Buffalo, I’m definitely pulling for the Hawks based on my time in Chicago for grad school when I really got to know this team and came to love their style of play. After they lost to Detroit in the Western Conference Finals last year, expectations were sky high this season, and I was still in the city when it began in October before moving to NYC in December. So I’ve experienced a good amount of that hype firsthand and had the opportunity to attend three games at the United Center in all (a fun arena - very loud). The city has really embraced hockey so it’s good to see them doing well. Hoping the rest of the series is as awesome as Game 1.

It was surreal and happened after I got a private message from him through Twitter. We had breakfast and met for an hour. Here are the details.
