It’s been more than a year since I’ve been to Coney Island. Being the last Saturday before Labor Day, I thought what better day to pay a visit?
Today I did a few unique things.
One, I had my first ever Nathan’s hot dog (approaching two years in the city, can you believe that?). Last time at Coney Island, I opted for pizza.
So that was good, I enjoyed it. Then I decided to walk the boardwalk.

I was determined to keep going until the boardwalk ended.

That turned out to be a long walk :)
I ended up at Brighton Beach, and along the way, I noticed nearly everyone started speaking a different language. A quick Google search on my phone, and I learned this area was settled by emigrants from the former Soviet Union.
Here’s what it looks like at the end of the boardwalk by Brighton Beach:

As you can see, it wasn’t very crowded around here. And it was quiet, so that was nice. I stayed here for a while, and it was relaxing, listening to the waves and spending some time just reflecting.
By the time I made it back to the central part of Coney Island, it was dark.

All in all, a nice trip.
